As you may be aware following the INF Congress in Australia back in August, there have been a variety of changes to the rules of netball that will come into force during 2016. The new rules will be used in the upcoming Vitality Netball International Series against Australia in January and then during the Vitality Netball Superleague season.
However, although a copy of the rule changes may have been circulated already through some sources, the rules will not be introduced into local leagues until much later in the year and therefore we would appreciate it if you are asked any questions relating to implementation date, that you give out the following information:
England Netball will use a phased approach for when and how these are implemented for England Netball and local competitions. As part of the roll out joint Coaching and Officiating Rules Forums will take place in the Regions to deliver the new rule changes, discuss the various impacts on the game and to answer anyone’s questions. These will be open to players, coaches and officials from all levels. Once further information is received by the County we will circulate to Leagues and Umpires as appropriate.
We currently believe the schedule for introducing the new rules into competitions is as follows but is still be confirmed by England Netball:
- Superleague Pre-Season Friendlies – Oct-Dec 2015
- International Competition – Jan 2016
- Superleague – Feb 2016
- Local Leagues – Sept 2016
- England Netball Domestic Competitions – Sept 2016
