SCHOOLS

Netball is one of the fastest growing female sports in England and it is recognised that schools give many people their first experience of netball.    Bedfordshire County Netball is committed to fostering a strong partnership with local schools to support the growth and development of young people through netball.  By working collaboratively with schools, we aim to enhance curricular activities, improve skills development, and provide opportunities for young players to flourish both on and off the court.

To ensure schools’ perspectives and needs are fully represented, we are fortunate to have a school sports teacher on our county committee.  This representation allows us to align our programs and initiatives with the goals of schools, creating a cohesive approach to nurturing talent and promoting the benefits of netball to the next generation.

This year, 2025, we are thrilled to announce that representatives from our local Super League team, London Mavericks will attend our Invitational Tournament for Under 13’s and 15’s.  On this occasion, we will be reaching out to all local schools to invite then to attend, giving students the chance to watch the action and meet key figures in the netball community and gain a deeper understanding of the work we are doing to develop netball at the County level.  London Mavericks will engage with attendees sharing insights into the netball pathway program and inspiring the next generation to pursue opportunities within the sport.   This collaboration underscores our commitment to supporting young athletes and strengthening the connection between grassroots and elite netball.

Alongside club coaches, teachers are invited to nominate pupils from within their schools to attend Performance Pathway trials each year.

In addition to the aforementioned if schools are registered with England netball there is also a raft of support, to help deliver curricular and competitive netball experiences.   This is aimed at developing their confidence and skills whilst helping provide links between clubs and ensure they can continue their netball participations outside of a school setting and into ‘senior’ netball.

To keep up to date with all things schools’ netball there is an AGM where schools can enter the leagues and tournaments, keep up to date with any training opportunities and get involved with helping promise netball in Bedfordshire Schools.
